Joshu Creel
Joshu found West Coast Swing in college a decade ago and it changed his entire life. He has always been obsessed with the way this improvised partner dance allows him to connect with his primary loves: people, music, competition, and staying up way too late. With students, he primarily seeks to synthesize the schools of thought that make up West Coast Swing and help the student find the movement that is most organic to themselves and the dance.
His favorite thing about the dance is how it blends individuality with strategy: allowing someone a freeform space to self-express while understanding and optimizing your own ideas in concert with someone else’s.

Joshu moved to Chicago in 2025 with his life partner—someone he met through West Coast Swing!
